We’re proud to have awarded more than £18,000 to inspiring causes across Berkshire through our community fund. Supporting the people and projects that make a real difference near our branches is a core part of our commitment to the communities we serve.
So far, we’ve helped several fantastic groups close to our locations in Winnersh, Reading, Whitley, Twyford, Binfield, Crowthorne, Maidenhead, and Tadley. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact these grants are having—and we’re excited to continue building those connections.
In the final round of funding in July, the Miles & Daughters Community Fund helped four organisations:
• Tadley and District Community Association received £1,500 towards its Community Food Pantry, which helps local families struggling with the cost of living.
• Reading Rockets Wheelchair Basketball Club was awarded £970.99 for its Ball 4 All project to inspire inclusion through sport.
• Berkshire Vision was given £1,500 to support its social club and activities for visually impaired people.
• Aspire2 received £1,500 to help stage Whitley Carnival, a major community event in south Reading.
The funeral directors donated another £13,000 to local organisations earlier this year, including The Way Ministry Reading, which used the money to help fund an emergency night shelter for people experiencing homelessness.
Area Development Manager Sarah White said: “I’m so pleased we’ve been able to support such a wide range of projects, each of which has a real impact on people’s lives in our communities.
“The Food Pantry is helping families put food on the table, Berkshire Vision is tackling isolation, and clubs like Rockets and Aspire2 are bringing people together in different but equally important ways. It’s a privilege to be part of that.”
The Miles & Daughters Community Fund has supported a wide range of causes in previous rounds, including counselling for young people, community events, and improved outdoor spaces for children.
